Sharing your data attribute by attribute is a very lean way to control what others know about you. everything is shared on a need-to-know basis.
With Juru we like to take it one step further: You don’t have to share your date of birth to prove you’re old enough to enter a festival. If your date of birth is attested to by a trusted partner, we allow you to create a token: +18 for example.
You can just share this token with a service, without sharing your exact age. Any attribute can be tokenized: age, place of birth, income, … Maybe I don’t want a dating site to know my name, age, address and marital status. But I might be willing to share i’m over 18, under 40, and live close to Brussels. This allows you even more control of your privacy.
Juru allows you to build a network of identities.
A Juru ID can represent a person, but can also represent a legal entity or an object. When you’re managing your own identity in Juru, you can create new identities for companies and things you own. Juru gives you full control of this new identity, so you can manage the attributes, proof and attestations in the exact same way as your own. We even allow you to create identities for people, for example to create an online identity for your newborn baby. When new person logs in to his own identity wallet, your mandate is automatically broken and the new identity becomes self-sovereign, just like yours.
Using this powerful model, we can give your smart refrigerator an identity, that you can control. You can allow the refrigerator to access your calendar data, so it can see you’ve got a 20-people party coming up this weekend. You can let it use your online account for grocery shopping, and even let it ask about allergies with your invitees, so you end up with a perfectly stocked fridge without lifting a finger, all while remaining in full control.
Juru puts an emphasis on security, authenticity and ease of use.
This is why we put a lot of effort in developing a platform that is bulletproof from the second you log in. All data is stored securely in a distributed, append-only database. This allows us to record changes at light-speed, while making sure all data in the platform is authentic. The nodes that contribute to this database are hosted by the partners in our non-profit organisation. We record proof and timestamps of all transactions on the platform (changes to attributes, attestations, proof and sharing) in our blockchain.
This allows you to prove beyond reasonable doubt that a certain action has been taken: If you revoked access to your email address for a certain online service, you have proof that they should no longer be sending you emails on that address. For us, It’s all about putting you in charge of your data.
